Homemade Chicken Broth from a  Whole Chicken

The flavor makers for this homemade chicken broth are salt, pepper, a bay leaf, and onion. You will also need a whole chicken (about 3 to 3.5 lbs in size)

Add the ingredients to a pot. Add some flavor makers if you want (like coriander seed, cardamom potds, fresh herbs, etc).

Bring the water to a simmer, then turn it down to low heat. Simmer the chicken covered for about 2.5 to 3  hours until the meat is falling off the bones.

Strain the broth. Store the broth in the fridge for up to 5 days or the freezer for up to 6 months.

The chicken and broth can be used for homemade chicken noodle soup.

The chicken and broth can also be used for crustless chicken pot pie.

You can also use it to make chicken pot pie with biscuits.

It's also used for a Mediterranean recipe called molokhia (jute stew).
