Are you wondering what is the best Vitamix blender model to suit your needs? There are several models to choose from, so it might be confusing. This post aims to subjectively compare the most common Vitamix models in addition to comparing a Vitamix alternative.

If you are still on the fence about owning a Vitamix blender, I give a quick explanation of why my Vitamix blender was #1 on my Top List of Kitchen Items.

What is a Vitamix Blender?

A Vitamix blender is a blender well-known for its incredibly high speed and high power. A Vitamix blender can blend a wide range of things, and you will not have to worry about damaging your motor.

Things You Can Do With a Vitamix Blender

  1. Grind whole almond nuts and other nuts into powder
  2. Blend nuts with water to make nut cream or nut milk, like my Almond Milk with Vitamix Recipe
  3. Make thick mixtures like homemade hummus, by using the tamper (which comes with the Vitamix).
  4. Blend hot contents, such as purees and soups. I use the Vitamix to make baby food purees and blended soups.
  5. Make excellent smoothies with frozen fruits, nuts, and vegetables like this Green Smoothie Recipe.

How to Compare Vitamix Models

There are different models of Vitamix which have different features and prices. To know more about the different models of Vitamix, check out the comparisons between models below.

Vitamix 5200 vs Vitamix 5300

Vitamix 5300

There is the question of whether the smoothies made using the Vitamix 5200 will be different from the ones made using the Vitamix 5300. These two models fall in the C-Series of the Vitamix brand of blenders. They are the most popular models, super powerful, and they blend efficiently. They, however, have some major differences between them. These are highlighted below.

Motor

The Vitamix 5300 comes with a 2.2-peak horsepower motor compared to the older Vitamix 5200, which has a 2-peak horsepower. This gives the Vitamix 5300 a higher torque, and with an in-built cooling fan, larger blades, it is a more efficient blender. There is really not much power difference between the two models, and their blending results are somewhat similar, but the smoothies and soups that the Vitamix 5300 produces are more consistent.

Noise Levels

The motor housing for the two models is similar; so, they have the same level of noise dampening. However, because the Vitamix 5300 model has extra power in its motor, it is a bit louder than the Vitamix 5200.

Containers

The Vitamix 5200 comes with a classic container with a small base, which means it can only hold ingredients in small amounts. On the other hand, the Vitamix 5300 comes with a low-profile design that includes a wide base that can hold large batches. So, if you intend to have multiple servings, the Vitamix 5300 is suitable. The size of the containers also determines how to store the blenders. The 5300 with its low profile of 17.5 inches can fit into most kitchen cabinets while the 5200 with its 20-inch height may not fit. The only similarity the two blenders have is the presence of a tamper, which makes it possible to add ingredients and crush them better while blending.

Blades

Both the 5200 and 5300 come with laser-cut hardened blades made from stainless steel. The blades may not be able to cut through the skin when you touch them, but they are tough enough to grind your ingredients consistently, thanks to the powerful motors. Vitamix 5200 has blades with a 3-inch diameter while the blades of the 5300 have a diameter of 4 inches. Because of this, the Vitamix 5300 is a more efficient blender.

User Interface

It is easier to operate and use the Vitamix 5200 than the Vitamix 5300. They, however, have a speed knob with ten levels, including the on/off toggle. You can control the speed of your blender as well as select your desired speed based on the ingredients you want to blend. The pulse function button that is present in the 5300 is not available in the 5200, and that is the biggest downside in the latter.

Ease of Cleaning

You can scrub both models manually using a cleaning sponge, but it is easier to scrub the 5300 because its base is wider, and your hand can reach all the bottom parts. These blenders can also self-clean. You only have to do is add some warm water and dishwasher soap then run the blender at low speed. Then, increase the speed gradually until the blender’s container is clean. However, do not make self-cleaning a regular thing as it does not get rid of accumulated minerals at the bottom of the container.

Efficiency and Safety

Both the Vitamix 5200 and the Vitamix 5300 come with an in-built radial cooling fans which help the blenders last longer. The Vitamix 5300 comes with a thermal protection system in the radial cooling fan system, but the 5200 does not come with that.

Price

Generally, the Vitamix 5200 comes at a lower price than the Vitamix 5300. However, sometimes there are promotions for the Vitamix 5300 that put it lower than the Vitamix 5200.

Verdict

The Vitamix 5300 blender is the winner when compared with the Vitamix 5200. The only reason why anybody might prefer Vitamix 5200 over the Vitamix 5300 is the price as it is cheaper. They both can hold 64-ounce of content, but the Vitamix 5300 can fit into virtually every space.

Vitamix 7500 vs Vitamix 750

Vitamix 750

These two blenders look identical and are similar in many ways, but they have significant differences. The Vitamix 750 blender comes with five programmed settings, which is different from the traditional 10-speed setting that Vitamix blenders come with. If deciding which of these two models you should choose for your kitchen, let’s check out the comparison of these two models below.

Motor

The Vitamix 7500 and Vitamix 750 both have the exact type of motors. They both come with a powerful 2.2-horsepower motor, which means they do not make as much noise as earlier models. This motor, with the hammermill blades in both blenders, can perform better than any household blender available in the market. So, from silky smoothies to creamy nut butter and frozen ice-cream, both the Vitamix 750 and 7500 will get the job done.

User Interface

The Vitamix 7500 and 750 have similar control panels, although the 750 has a bit more modern and sleek design. They both come with a pulse switch and a 10-level speed knob. All you need to do is pour in your ingredients, select your desired level, and leave it to do the blending. The difference between the two models is that the 750 has five preset programs to deliver consistent blends.

Pricing

Because of the five extra programs that are present in the Vitamix 750, it is more expensive than the 7500, but the difference is only about $100.

Verdict

Picking a winner between the two models is quite hard, but the Vitamix 750 has a slight edge over the Vitamix 7500. But basically, they are both similar blenders. Only those who think the five extra programs are worth the extra dollars will go for the Vitamix 750.

Vitamix 5300 vs Vitamix 7500

The Vitamix 5300 and 7500 are almost identical in features and functions. The Vitamix 7500 can be tagged as an upgraded version of the 5300 model. So, essentially, anyone who buys the 7500 is buying an upgraded 5300. But to better understand what each of the models offers, let’s check out the differences and similarities.

Motor

The motor in the Vitamix 5300 is significantly different from that of the 7500. While the 5300 makes use of the classic motor and housing, the 7500 comes with an advanced motor, and the motor housing is suspended. The same motor that is present in the 7500 is the same as the one in newer Vitamix blenders. The motor in the 5300 packs a power of 2.1 Horsepower while the 7500 has a 2.2-HP motor, but this difference is negligible. It is barely noticeable when blending.

One significant upgrade that the Vitamix 7500 has is the improvement in noise levels. The Vitamix 7500 comes with a suspended motor housing which is responsible for the noise level is 40% lower than that of the Vitamix 5300. This suspended motor housing also allows the vents to take in more air, which means the Vitamix 7500 will never have the problem of getting too hot and activating the thermal sensor to the point of shutting the blender off. Although this is not a major issue in the Vitamix 5300, it, however, happens sometimes that the thermal sensor may get tripped off if the blender goes on working for too long.

Do any of these affect the quality of blending?

No, you will not notice any difference in the blender’s capability to blend. Whatever the Vitamix 7500 can blend, the Vitamix 5300 can blend as well. The only difference is the sound of the blenders. The Vitamix 5300 will make more noise than the Vitamix 7500, but their performance is nearly the same.

User Interface

Both the Vitamix 5300 and Vitamix 7500 have the same controls. Each of them comes with the following controls;

  1. 10-speed dial – It has ten different adjustable speed settings to you can achieve the perfect texture and blend no matter what you are blending.
  2. Pulse Switch – It gives the blender pulses to achieve chunkier textures.
  3. Start/Stop Switch – This is the button you press to either start or stop the blending process.

The Vitamix 7500 has a modern and sleek look, but it is not very different from the Vitamix 5300. Any of the two models that you pick comes down to your personal preference. You can get the Vitamix 7500 in black, white, and red colors while you can get the Vitamix 5300 in red and black colors.

Extra Accessories that Come With Both Blenders

When you purchase either the Vitamix 5300 or Vitamix 7500, you will find some extras in the package. Check out the things that come with each of the blenders below;

The two blenders come with;

  1. A low-profile 64-oz pitcher.
  2. A tamper to grind ingredients while blending.
  3. Getting started cookbook containing over 70 recipes.

The Vitamix 7500 comes with Simply Fresh Cookbook in addition to all of the above. Both blenders have a low-profile pitcher, which makes it easier to store the blenders conveniently without hitting the cabinet top.

Pricing

Comparing the prices of the Vitamix 7500 and the Vitamix 5300 is a bit interesting. The two models cost the same, which makes it easier to choose between them. Many people will choose the Vitamix 7500 model.

Verdict

The better of the two blenders is the Vitamix 7500, and if you are buying brand new, it costs the same as the Vitamix 5300. This makes choosing between the two models is simple and easy.

Best Vitamix Blender Conclusion

There are a lot of options to choose from regarding Vitamix models. I have the Vitamix 5300 model, and I could not be any happier. I’ve had it for 2 years, and I’ve used it for daily smoothies, hummus, baby food, puree soup, nut milk, and homemade tomato puree. Lately, I’ve been making toddler-friendly smoothies for my daughter, and it’s making it easier to feed her fruits and veggies int he day.

I really do not like having a bunch of useless gadgets in my kitchen. In order for me to give up counter space for an appliance, it better be worth it. Since I use the Vitamix blender daily, I think it’s worth the high price tag.
