How To Roast Butternut Squash Halves

These simple roasted butternut squash halves are the best way to roast whole butternut squash with just 5 minutes of prep.

All you need are just a few simple ingredients: a whole butternut squash, a  little extra virgin olive oil, and a pinch of salt. You can also bake with butter and brown sugar.

Preheat the oven to 400℉ (205℃). Cut the stem off the squash and slice it in half. Use a large sharp knife because the squash is hard.

Scoop the seeds out of the butternut squash using a spoon.

Place the squash skin down in a baking dish.

Using a fork or knife, stab the squash flesh every 1".

Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle some salt on top. Alternatively, lather in butter and brown sugar.

Roast at 400℉ (205℃) uncovered in the middle of the oven for around 45 minutes to an hour. The roasting time depends on the size of the squash. Remove from the oven when the squash is tender.

Scoop out the tender squash or slice into chunks.
