Homemade dough is made from quick-rise yeast, flour (00 flour or all-purpose), olive oil, sugar, salt, and water. This freezer-friendly recipe takes 15 minutes to prepare and 2 hours to rise.
Proof the yeast. Warm the water to between 110 and 115℉ (takes about 45 seconds in the microwave). Add the yeast and sugar to the water. Let the yeast get foamy (about 5 minutes).
In a stand mixer, mix the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture. Pour in the olive oil. Change to a dough hook attachment and knead for about 8 minutes.
Or hand knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes.
The dough will be sticky. Rub olive oil on the outside and put it in a bowl. Place plastic wrap and a damp cloth on top. Set it in a warm environment for a minimum of 2 hours.
The dough should at least double in size. Punch the air out of the dough and move it to a floured surface.
This recipe makes two 14" diameter pizzas. Cut the dough in half. Form a ball. Then press the dough into a pizza pan. You can also use a rolling pin.
Spread pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Add your favorite toppings. Bake at 450 ℉ on the bottom oven rack for about 12 minutes.
