Ground Beef Ragu

This slow-simmered homemade ragu sauce is a melt in your mouth pasta sauce that goes with any kind of pasta! It takes 15 minutes of hands on prep and 2 hours to slow simmer.

This delicious homemade ragu sauce is made with ground beef, carrots, celery, onion, garlic cloves, fresh herbs, salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg.

Add the canned whole tomatoes, carrots, and celery to a blender.

Blend the tomatoes, carrots, and celery. Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic cloves. Set the onion and garlic aside.

In a large pot on medium heat, cook the beef, breaking up the clumps.

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the browned beef.

Pour the blended tomato mixture. Add salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg.

Add the fresh herb sprigs to the pot. Bring the tomato sauce to a slow simmer. Cover and cook for 2 hours. Check the liquid after an hour and add as needed.

Serve this homemade ragu sauce with spaghetti, homemade gnocchi, or other pasta.
